Advanced Shockwave Therapy (ESWT)

Shockwave Therapy (ESWT)

A treatment option for long-standing heel pain and tendon problems

A podiatrist delivering shockwave therapy to a patient’s heel

What is shockwave therapy?

Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) is a treatment that uses high-energy acoustic waves on injured tissues.

Unlike laser (which uses light energy), shockwave uses mechanical pulses. These pulses are applied to the affected area.

Conditions we may treat

  • Plantar fasciitis (heel pain)
  • Achilles tendinopathy
  • Shin splints
  • Patellar tendonitis (jumper’s knee)
  • Chronic heel spurs
  • Morton’s neuroma
